What's Happening
The Six Imaginal Zones
This is an interdisciplinary laboratory of image-making for artists, oracles & practitioners across disciplines that involve access to the imaginal realm-a mode of experience beyond the ordinary senses but that is nonetheless real.
It is a system I originally developed as part of my graduate thesis in contemporary performance exploring the question: how does the artist deepen into an image-making process? Each "zone" serves to root the person within a specific quality of their work in its ecological, mythological and archetypal implications.
This work is for performance artists, writers, painters, sculptors, oracles & other media artists. It's also for creatives who work with a sense of the astral, or imaginal, worlds and divination as key components of their practice. Participants will work on a piece of material (as diverse as performance art, poetry, painting, sculpture, storytelling, sound poems or hybrids) from the perspective of each imaginal zone as well as the subterranean/chthonic counterpart of each zone.
