What's Happening
Move over Ptolemy!
In this six-session lab, you'll wed precision mathematics with hardcore divination, going back to the ziggurat roots of astrological symbolism.
We will begin with a history into the development of modern aspect theory. Johannes Kepler kicked off a harmonic revolution with his geometrical interventions into Ptolemaic aspect doctrine. In our second session, we'll explore the seqsquiquintile and Egyptian sacred math as a case study for the efficacy and elegance of so-called "minor" aspects. In the following four sessions, we'll learn how to measure every single arc (yes, all 360 possible ones) as a separate aspect and how to delineate them. We'll spring off of Robert P. Blaschke's Sabian Aspect Orb, but bring our own degree symbol systems into the mix as needed. Once you play with the brilliance of what Blaschke called "Sabian aspect orbs" you will get addicted to astrology in a whole new way. You might even devise your own degree symbol system to work with these hypermodern aspects.
Intensive labs are highly interactive, living spaces, so live attendance is strongly encouraged. CAELi will provide all course materials as PDFs inside the virtual campus portal. Live sessions start on Wednesday Sept 17 2025 at 2-4pm Pacific.
A very cool certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful participation in the lab, and all participants will receive a complimentary copy of the second edition of Robert Blaschke's book, Sabian Aspect Orbs.
